Madcap Puppets presents "Tales of the Silk Road" at the Emmet O'Neal Library! Ages 3 and up are invited to enjoy this puppet production at 3:30 on Wednesday, January 27th.
If you don't know how to dance the hula now, you will after the Emmet O'Neal Looney Luau on Tuesday, January 12th! Come at 5:30 for dinner, then stick around for island music and hula lessons. All ages welcome!

It's the Emmet O'Neal Children's Department GINGERBREAD CONTEST! Create a gingerbread house and bring it to the Children's Department Gingerbread Land between December 12th and December 22nd. Every entry qualifies for the prize drawing on the 22nd! Entries should be picked up by 3:00 on December 23rd. Entries must be received by 5:00 on Tuesday, December 22nd. Don't forget to pick up an entry form from the Children's Department!

Spooktacular is back! Start celebrating Halloween at the Emmet O'Neal Library with stories, face painting, crafts, and snacks. We'll have 30 minute storytimes for ages 3 - 2nd grade at 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00...but be sure to call 879-0459 to make sure you have a spot!
Make your Halloween month frightfully fun with Dig It, the Thursday afternoon event for 3rd - 6th graders. With a viewing of Coraline, a monster mash karaoke smash, and a lesson on how to make yourself look positively spooky, October Dig It is packed with spine-tingling shenanigans you don't want to miss!

Fire Prevention Poster Contest!
Did you know that October 4 - 10 is Fire Prevention Week?
You're probably wondering what you can do to celebrate. We've got a great idea!
Design and create a poster, no bigger than 9" x 12", about preventing fires - this year's theme is "Don't Get Burned" - and enter it in the poster contest, sponsored by the Emmet O'Neal Library and the Mountain Brook Fire Department.
You can use any medium you'd like, but entries are due at the library children's desk by September 30, so go ahead - get to work!
Family night is back with Emmy Award-winning Farmer Jason! You don't want to miss this rollicking good time of food and music. Dinner is at 5:30, and Farmer Jason begins at 6:00. There's no need to register - just come on down, y'all!

Calling all animal lovers! The brave crew from the McWane Center will be here at 3:30 on September 9th to share what they know about animals...and to share the animals themselves! Children ages 5 and older can come see, hold, and learn at Emmet O'Neal Library.

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of licensed titles from children's book publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Chronicle Books, Candlewick Press, Charlesbridge Press, Harcourt, Little Brown, Walker & Company, Lerner Books, amongst others.

The TumbleBookLibrary provides enrichment to students who are reading independently with a variety of high interest material. It also provides support to students who require skill building with a variety of exercises that can be matched with other areas of the curriculum. In general, TumbleBooks are a great addition to a reading program that can be worked on independently by each student or by the whole class. It has been exceptionally well received by ESL and Special Education teachers.
