Summer Chess Club!

Dive into chess at Emmet O'Neal this summer! Chess Club will be from 3:30 - 5:00 pm every Wednesday from June 2 - July 14. With all that practice, you don't want to miss the chess tournament on July 17th at 11:30 am - but make sure to register by calling 879-0497!

Summer reading is almost here! Celebrate with us at the kick-off carnival on Sunday, May 23rd, from 2:00 - 4:30. Make sure to register for the Thomas Hughes Brinkley Memorial Fun Run, taking place at 1:30 that day! Preregister for all events starting May 6 at the children's desk, and don't forget to pick up your summer reading T-shirt!

Astronauts, astronomers, and space watchers...this is for you! NASA, along with IMAX and the American Library Association, want you to see Hubble 3D at the IMAX...for free! Visit the Explore the Universe @ Your Library website, answer 6 questions about the Hubble Space Telescope, and you'll be entered into the drawing for one of 4 great prizes!

All school-age kids, from kindergarten through 12th grade, are eligible for entry...but act fast - the contest ends April 30th! Unfortunately, the film is only playing in 2D in Huntsville at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center - but it makes a great road trip!

Ages 2nd grade and up with an adult - sign up for a tea party with Becky Thatcher, taking place Wednesday, April 21st at 3:30! We'll be making dolls as the children might have done in Tom Sawyer's day. Spots are limited - don't forget to register ahead of time!

Hey 3rd - 6th graders! Swing by the children's department and grab a copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the graphic novel retold by M.C. Hall. While you're here, sign up for Bookmania, an hour of pizza and book chat. The party happens twice: Tuesday, April 6th, and Tuesday, April 20th.

Did you think Dig-It couldn't get any better? Think again! We're joining up with The Big Read to bring you a month of Mark Twain-themed Dig-It programs. All 3rd-6th graders are welcome in our grownup-free zone every Thursday at 3:30.
